Part 4 of 6

Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, industry, justice and skill. She was the favorite child of Zeus. She had sprung fully grown out of her father's head.

Athena and her uncle Poseidon were both very fond of a certain city in Greece. Both of them claimed the city and it was decided that the one that could give the finest gift should have it. Leading a procession of citizens, the two gods mounted the Acropolis. Poseidon struck the side of the cliff with his trident and a spring welled up. The people marveled, but the water was as salty as Poseidon's sea and it was not very useful. Athena's gift was an olive tree, which was better because it not only gave the people food, but also oil and wood. Athena named her city Athens.

This is the fourth of a six piece portfolio for Independent Study in Digital Drawing, with piece examining a uniquely feminine trait as represented by a goddess. Athena represents wisdom.

I don't laugh in the face of fear. I grab fear by the balls and order it to get my damn coffee!
:icongunmetalblack:
Nice work! It stands out from the others in the series, I think, but I can see common elements in the technique and the embedded textured. I really like the shading, especially on the figure and how well the composition flows together. It's a very lovely pic and very well done! :)

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

That lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted...

sadly, no... I limited myself to one greek, and I didn't make it to incas (though I am working on some Mayans and Aztecs for another project).

My time was very limited on this series, so only 6 for now, but I may expand the series in the future. :D
:icondarkmasterundertaker:
