Part 6 of 6
(for now... more to come later?)

Brigid, which means "Fiery Arrow" or "Bright Arrow", is a Celtic three-fold goddess. Known by many names, Brigid's three aspects are Fire of Inspiration as patroness of poetry, Fire of the Hearth, as patroness of healing and fertility, and Fire of the Forge, as patroness of smithcraft and martial arts. She is mother to the craftsmen.

Goddess of the Sacred Flame of Kildare and often is considered to be the White Maiden aspect of the Triple Goddess. She was Christianized as the "foster-mother" of Jesus Christ, and called St. Brigit, the daughter of the Druid Dougal the Brown. Brighid's festival is Imbolc, celebrated on or around February 1 when she ushers Spring to the land after The Cailleach's Winter reign, when Brigid's snake comes out of its mound in which it hibernates and its behavior is said to determine the length of the remaining Winter. It is the basis for the American Groundhog Day.

This is the sixth of a six piece portfolio for Independent Study in Digital Drawing, with piece examining a uniquely feminine trait as represented by a goddess. Brigid represents creativity and inspiration.

(she's my favorite, but don't tell the others...)

Awesome! I'm into Celtic mythology a bit and Brigid has always been one of my favourite goddesses. This picture is beautiful and the style totally works with the subject matter. (I also, as a lefty, like that you made her a southpaw. Heh.)
Anyway, great picture. :)

but it makes since, the left side is associated with the intellectual, so... yeah, I TOTALLY meant to do that.

May I become a protector for the protectorless,
A guide for those who travel on the road,
And, for those who wish to cross the water,
May I become a boat, a ship, or a bridge.

I have loved this series. It has been a delightful trip through the mythology of several cultures, besides being wonderful artwork in it's own right. I like that you took the time to include the background of each goddess in the descriptions.

I like the almost art nouveau line style you use. Excellent pose and expression captured on all, fitting appropriately with each theme. And I love the coloring style. Smooth and lots of good color worked into the highlights and shadows, something I wish I was better at accomplishing myself. The added textures were a nice touch too.
